Long-term Insights Briefing

Closed 7 Oct 2022

Opened 12 Sep 2022

Overview

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to the second round of consultation on the Justice Sector Long-term Insights Briefing.

Last year we asked for your views on our proposed topic for this consultation: Long-term insights about imprisonment and what these tell us about future risks and opportunities.

Thank you to the 1,500 New Zealanders who took part, your input was valuable and has helped inform the draft briefing.

We now invite you to take part in the consultation on this draft. We are keen to know what you think so we can reflect the views of the community in the final briefing.

This consultation document summarises some of the top-level findings.

The main themes are: How has the prison population changed and why? What helps keep people away from prison? What are the future risks and opportunities?

You can have your say by reading the consultation document and answering the questions in the online survey. You can choose to answer as many or as few of these questions as you wish. You are not required to provide any personal information to complete these questions but it does help us to better understand the data we receive.

The consultation document can be found by clicking here.

How your information will be used

The information you provide is valuable to us. It will be anonymised and analysed to inform the final Long-term Insights Briefing. Anonymised findings from the survey will also be made available on Citizen Space.
