Universal Periodic Review: Targeted feedback

Closed 13 Mar 2019

Opened 27 Feb 2019

Overview

The Ministry of Justice would like to hear your feedback on the recommendations from New Zealand’s third Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the Human Rights Council in Geneva. We have informed key stakeholders by emailing out the link to this survey. This link can be forwarded to others.

77 countries made a total of 194 recommendations on how New Zealand can take further steps to improve our human rights situation. The recommendations are included in the attached draft report of the Human Rights Council (from page 11). The Government will formally respond to the recommendations in June 2019.

Your input is much appreciated. It will support the Government’s consideration of the recommendations by highlighting which recommendations are supported strongly by civil society.

Please note that due to the tight timeframe, there is limited time available for submissions. Comments are limited to 500 words per submission to ensure that we can analyse all submissions. Submissions should only discuss the specific recommendations and not the whole report.

This is an opportunity to reflect on the recommendations rather than raising new issues. Thank you for being part of the process so far, and for providing us with your valuable input. We look forward to continuing our dialogue with you on human rights issues.

Please provide your feedback by 5pm on Wednesday 13 March 2019.
